Philosophy Club

Leeds U3A Philosophy Group meets at 7pm on the 3rd Monday of the month. It has been running since January 2015. The programme is both informative and entertaining – from the old philosophical dilemmas to more modern challenging subjects.

Speakers are usually lecturers and graduate students from the Philosophy Dept of Leeds University and the topics are incredibly variable. For example, in recent months we have been exploring issues to do with technology such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. On other occasions we have covered topics as diverse as the philosophy of Gender and Disability, Abortion and Euthanasia. The format of the evening is about 40 minutes talk, followed by a short break for refreshments, then a discussion / question and answer session.

There is an entrance fee of £5 per session to cover the lecturer's travel expenses. The meetings are currently held at 46 Wigton Lane, Leeds LS17 8SJ. For more information, please contact: Graham Heffernan on 07711 580422.
