A Grand Day Out

A Grand Day Out is a trip out that doesn't fit into any of the other groups' activities. It has become a regular group – an informal day outing to some easily accessible regional attraction.

The trips are open to all members to take part in.

The first outing was a trip on the Settle to Carlisle railway. We have also visited the Barbara Hepworth Museum in Wakefield, The Deep in Hull, Morecambe, and the Yorkshire rhubarb triangle, among other places.

Join us for the day travelling by Northern Rail to Manchester Victoria.

Visit the Cathedral to find Manchester’s history and the carved bees which are its symbol. Take in the Football Museum (if you wish) and the magnificent Walker Art Gallery, do some Christmas shopping and finally meet up at the Town Hall for a cream tea in the Sculpture Hall – worth seeing for the architecture (other food available).

Special offer: £10, payable at time of booking. 20 places available.

Meet outside Boots in Leeds station at 10.30 for the 10.51 train. MQ will have the tickets. Return trains must be Northern Rail, leaving at 16.16, 16.26 or 16.48. There are later trains if you wish to stay for longer. Your ticket is valid up to midnight!
