Brush Up Your French Group
The aim of the group is to practise the French that you may have acquired so that you do not lose it and to extend your knowledge so that you may improve your conversational skills. The emphasis is, therefore, on speaking and listening although some writing and reading are included. Formal grammar will be kept to a limit and taught when necessary to extend understanding and use of the language. This will, hopefully, enable you to cope with the everyday situations you may encounter when visiting France and allow you to get into simple conversations with French nationals!
Examples:
- Shopping
- Ordering meals
- Visiting a doctor or dentist
- Asking for information
- Talking about yourself and family and expressing likes and dislikes
- Passing the time of day with French people
- Giving your opinion
French Experience Book One is a useful reference book if you want a book to work from. (It can be bought cheaply on Amazon, second hand or new).
It is entirely up to the individual how much effort or speaking they wish to do. The group is friendly and supportive and run with the help of a retired teacher of French.
